Laws and Regulations of Nitrogen Oxide sensor

In Europe, there are several laws and regulations related to nitrogen oxide (NOx) sensors on cars.

The Euro 6 emissions standards set by the European Union limit the amount of NOx that vehicles can emit. To comply with these standards, most diesel engines are equipped with a NOx sensor as part of their exhaust after-treatment system to monitor and regulate their emissions levels.

In addition, the EU Regulation 2018/858 requires all new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles to undergo type approval testing for emissions before they can be placed on the market. The regulation sets strict limits on vehicle emissions, including NOx, and requires manufacturers to use approved testing procedures and equipment, including NOx sensors, to ensure compliance .

Furthermore, the European Commission has introduced Real Driving Emissions (RDE) testing to measure vehicle emissions in real-world driving conditions as opposed to just laboratory testing. This has led to increased scrutiny of emissions levels and has resulted in a greater focus on NOx sensors and other technologies that help reduce vehicle emissions.

Overall, the use of NOx sensors is an important aspect of ensuring compliance with European emissions regulations and reducing the impact of vehicle emissions on the environment and public health .
